TAI PING 2

New York, New York

Having designed the previous New York City showroom and offices of Tai Ping, a Hong Kong-based global custom carpet company serving the architecture and interior design community, BR Design was pleased to help the company relocate to a new, one-floor, 10,000 SF facility. Tai Ping has come a long way since its founding in 1956, selling their commercial business in 2017 to focus on custom-made artisan products for homes, yachts and private jets, as well as doing high-end commercial installations for boutique stores, hotels, and corporate offices.

BR Design began the project by updating the building program and analyzing multiple properties prior to settling on space within a 12-story structure built in 1907 in the Flatiron District. The new showroom and offices were installed in an elegant white interior with rich, dark accented finished, exposed ceiling, ebonized wood floor and custom rug displays that could easily be lowered from the ceiling. Here Tai Ping’s carpets and rugs sparkled like jewels, and the sample room functioned as the core of the facility, a transitional zone from the showroom to the design studio that made the Tai Ping story complete and unabashedly glamourous.
